Using RetirementPlanCalc accessibly

RetirementPlanCalc aims to make retirement tools understandable and usable across common devices and assistive technologies. Our calculators use visible labels, keyboard-operable controls, clear input errors, and results placed below the form.

This statement describes design goals and features. It is not a claim of independent certification, a complete accessibility audit, or conformance with every requirement in a particular standard.

Calculator features

Inputs have associated labels and explanatory hints. Calculate, Load example, and Reset are standard buttons. Results use headings and a table with named columns and row labels so the information can be interpreted without relying on color alone.

Editing an input hides the previous estimate. Error messages identify missing or invalid values. On successful calculation, focus moves to the result section; browser and assistive-technology behavior may differ.

Reading and navigation

Pages use headings to divide topics and descriptive links to relevant tools and policies. Layouts adapt to smaller screens, and table containers allow horizontal scrolling when needed.

You can use your browser’s zoom and text-size features. Keyboard focus is intended to remain visible. If a page becomes difficult to read at your preferred zoom or on your device, please tell us which page and setting caused the issue.

Known practical limits

Some content is supplied by WordPress, the active theme, hosting infrastructure, or external websites. Those services can affect navigation and behavior. We do not control accessibility on linked third-party pages.

Number-input behavior and automatic scrolling can differ among browsers. If a control does not work with your assistive technology, report the combination of browser, device, and technology so the behavior can be investigated.

Report an accessibility barrier

  1. Email contact@retirementplancalc.com with “Accessibility” in the subject line.
  2. Include the URL and the action you were trying to complete.
  3. Describe the barrier and, if comfortable, your browser and assistive technology.
  4. Tell us what alternative format or explanation would help.

Do not send sensitive financial details or medical records. A description of the interaction is usually enough to begin investigating.

Ongoing improvement

Accessibility should be considered when changing layouts, calculators, images, or navigation. Reported barriers should be reviewed alongside other site issues. We do not promise a fixed response time or a particular remedy before understanding the problem.

If a calculator is difficult to use, the methodology page explains the arithmetic in text. We can also review requests for clearer instructions or a simpler presentation of site information.
